Giving the Community a Voice to Help Prevent Crime and other Incidents causing Harm or Loss.

Voice of the People is a new and innovative community incident reporting system that has been created to serve, protect, connect and support communities, services and the police in countries all around the world. Developed and supported by ex-police officers, outreach workers and other members of the community, Voice of the People is a heart-based resource that helps to provide families, children, elderly and disabled individuals with a secure and safe place to report incidents and crimes, and to find services to assist them.

 

Voice of the People is an invaluable grassroots resource that is available 24/7, helping to ensure that the rule of law is followed and justice is served, whilst helping create genuine grassroots services and connections in the community.

Created to operate under the natural law system of do no harm and cause no loss, this system can work alongside any legal system in the world.

Working together with Police, Outreach Services and the Community, we aim to Protect the Police for the People while Protecting Families and the Greater Community by assisting in crime prevention, information collection and dissimilation, and connecting community resources at a genuine grassroots level.

​​Arising from the concerns raised by a number of people working in outreach projects who were discovering in their interactions with people, that many have been impacted by processes or policies implemented under Grey Letter Law, Soft Law or Quasi Legislation, the Voice of the People (VOTP) is a combined voluntary effort by people who have learned experience within the frontline and outreach environments.

The objective is simply to establish an incident reporting and follow up system to interface with respective administrative bodies to ensure the necessary checks and balances are in place to discover if unchecked ‘policies’ are contributing to harms or losses within the community.

Within an environment of grey corruption as identified by Robert Redlich former Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria's Court of Appeal and ex IBAC Commisioner.

It is the purpose of the VOTP to establish a network and platform for the community to work together with our institutions to ensure effective administration where effective checks and balances take place.

🔹 Rule of Law

Definition:
The rule of law is a foundational legal principle that holds that everyone, including the government, is subject to the law. It ensures fairness, equality, and justice by requiring that laws are:

  • Constitutional

  • Publicly promulgated

  • Equally enforced

  • Independently adjudicated

  • Consistent with international human rights norms

Key Characteristics:

  • Legally binding: It is a core component of formal legal systems.

  • Enforceable: Violations of the rule of law (e.g., ignoring due process) can be challenged in courts.

  • Institutional: Embedded in constitutions, statutes, and legal traditions.

Examples:

  • A government cannot arrest someone without following legal procedures (due process).

  • Courts must apply the law impartially to all citizens.

🔹 Soft Law, Grey Letter  Law or Quasi Legislation

Definition:
Soft law refers to non-binding instruments (such as guidelines, declarations, or codes of conduct) that influence behavior but do not have the force of law.

Key Characteristics:

  • Not legally binding: It does not have the same legal status as treaties or statutes.

  • Persuasive authority: Often used to guide interpretation or fill legal gaps.

  • Flexible: Easier to adapt or revise than formal laws.

Examples:

  • United Nations’ declarations (e.g., the Universal Declaration of Human Rights), UNIDROIT Agreement

  • OECD guidelines for multinational enterprises

  • Voluntary corporate social responsibility codes
